Malta on the podium at the 2018 Flyboard World Cup.

Malta finished third in the Flyboard World Cup organized by Zapata Racing, the company that invented this sport in 2012. Simon Desira competed in Cavalaire-Sur-Mer in France and finished 3rd in the Veteran (Pro Masters) Category. Athletes competing in the Pro Men’s Category are eligible to compete in the Veterans (Pro Masters) Category once they reach the age of 40. The other categories in this competition are Juniors, Pro Women and Pro Men.

The Flyboard is considered as an Extreme Sports in which athletes can reach heights of 20 meters with the help of a jet ski propulsion. Riders competing in a freestyle competition perform amazing gravity-defying figures, which are judged by a jury of 6 people.

Simon, 50 years of age, has been practicing this sport since the beginning. He has already achieved other honors amongst which is 3rd place in the only European Championship held in France in 2016. He is also a team member of the Official ZR Flyboard Show Team, ( https://www.flyboard-show.com/ ) performing in spectacular shows around the World.

Simon together with his wife, Joanne, also a Flyboard Athlete and Instructor have established a Flyboard School in Malta which is considered being one of the best in the World. Courses for beginners to advanced are done both locally on our shores and around the World. During this year's championship Flyboard Malta had 3 foreign students one from the UK and two from Italy that had undergone an intesive course on techique and style. One of them won the Junior Category with a great performance, whilst the others placed 23rd and 36th in the Pro Men Category.
